Brief History
Some 5 years ago
Malcolm Mundy, then senior instructor at Louth Social Education centre and Mike Warren, Head teacher of St Bernards Special
School became aware of
the changes in the way day services for people with learning disabilities were
being planned to reduce the sheltered workshop type service.
After several
years of discussions we decided to go independent because we believed that
the Louth Interskill was needed and valued.
Parents and
adults with learning disabilities were consulted.
In 2007, a
project plan was put to the Lincolnshire CDA.
An advisor was
appointed to support the launch of the business, funded by a bursary from Lincolnshire
Co-operative.
The business was
set up using various funding streams:-
Various grants
mainly for capital expenditure.
A community loan
from LCC
and a bank overdraft.
Louth Interskill
became incorporated on 10th September 2007.

South Witham
Rural community broadband scheme
Frustrated by no broadband facilities,we did it ourselves. Being a Social Enterprise has given us the freedom to explore cutting edge technologies that would be considered too peripheral by a private company.
